Ever since Abbot Suger renovated Paris' St. Denis cathedral in the Middle Ages, stained glass windows have enriched Christian houses of worship. Suger reasoned that if Jesus was the light of the world, as the apostle John wrote, then beautiful light should fill the church. This program uses 35 mm slides to survey the iconography of stained glass windows from Chartres 12th century masterpieces to Marc Chagall's 20th century windows in Reims cathedral.
